Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, the Youth Care Advocate is responsible and accountable for monitoring youth and for maintaining a safe and secure environment for both staff and youth. He/she will reflect and display the character development core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

**PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Implement security procedures of the YMCA and house as outlined in the Operations Manual.
- Supervise and monitor youth in all activities of the program both in and out of the house.
- Implement and supervise recreational activities.
- Conduct proper intake and discharge procedures for residents.
- Keep accurate logs and records.
- Maintain YMCA, DCF, and DEEC policies and procedures.
- Supervise and assist in meal preparation and distribution.
- Attend all scheduled full staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Intervene to prevent any crisis situation according to the Behavior Management Policy of the house.
- Work as part of a team with co-workers.
- Receive permission from Shift Supervisor or PIC (Person In Charge) before leaving the house to ensure proper staff coverage.
- Report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the Shift Supervisor and Shift Administrator.
- Follow dress code policy.
- Complete youth incident reports and logs before shift end
- Maintain work schedule as directed.
- Assist other service programs and families cooperatively as a representative of the Old Colony Y.
- Assume PIC (Person in Charge) responsibilities as assigned.
- Ensure all fiscal policies and procedures are followed for such things as petty cash, purchase orders, vouchers, and employee expenses, etc.
- Ensure emergency procedures (fire, safety and medical) are adhered to according to house policy.
- Maintain and clean all areas of the house, inside and out.
