**This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12 month period. **Starting Hourly Pay varies, depending on experience.**

**Qualifications**:

- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year of experience in tourism information work, public relations, customer service, or teaching.- SUBSTITUTIONS:
- College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.- NOTE:

- Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.**Job Concepts**:

- To provide information to tourists and to perform incidental clerical and custodial functions.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

- Close from a Tourism Supervisor or higher level staff.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

- None.

LOCATION OF WORK:

- Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Office of Tourism - Welcome Centers statewide.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

- Differs from Tourism Information Counselor 2 by the degree of supervision received and the absence of experienced level duties.

Welcomes tourists and determines their travel interests and needs.
Provides information on localities, museums, parks, events, and other attractions to visit.
Assists travelers with hotel reservations and weather reports from the Internet.
Provides directions, shortest routes or scenic routes.
Distributes brochures and maps.
Answers questions from visitors, by phone and mail, regarding the state, its history and its culture.
Conducts research by reading industry publications, visiting travel websites and consulting with others to keep abreast of upcoming events and to broaden knowledge of the state.
Participates in educational study tours.
Keeps daily records or files; stocks brochure racks; orders supplies/brochures; performs other clerical duties.
Attains CPR certification and becomes re-certified annually.
