Poultry Selection Associate

**Reports to**:
Selection Team Manager

**Job Description and Responsibilities**:

- Physical evaluation of each pedigree bird, which includes detailed observation of specific traits
- Monitors strain security to preserve and protect the purity of our bloodlines from contamination or theft
- Selection program implementation, compliance, development and monitoring
- Complete repeatability testing regularly to determine accuracy of work
- Facilitate the washing and moving of equipment, biosecurity, bird handling and technologies used for selection
- Assist with implementation of poultry practices as outlined in Farm SOP and other communications
- Ensure proper bird handling in accordance to animal welfare practices
- Perform all other duties assigned by management

**Qualifications**:

- Must have at minimum a high school diploma, however an associate’s degree in animal science, biology or any related field is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of livestock handling
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must have a strong work ethic, good attendance record
- Must possess fair verbal and written communication skills
- Must have adequate experience with technology such as tablets and handheld devices
- Ability to work independently if necessary and have a flexible work schedule
- Must be authorized to work in the United States of America
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug-screen prior to employment
- Must possess a valid driver’s license

Other Conditions:

- **Many tasks performed in this role will require repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, standing, walking, and contact with live animals**

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 42.5 per week
