Our Adult Recreation Programs are hiring staff for shifts on Tuesday-Friday, 5:30-8:30pm and Saturdays, 11:30am-3:30pm. There is flexibility on the number of shifts you work, generally 2-3 programs per week (6-10 hours/week).

The Inclusive Leisure Assistant is responsible for providing quality recreation-based services for the Adult Recreation Program.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) include the following**:

- Interacts with participants in a respectful, age-appropriate, and culturally-appropriate manner by honoring participant preferences and requests, in conjunction with behavior plans and care information.
- Works cooperatively with Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Program Manager to provide interesting and stimulating program activities that are appropriate for most participants, which include recreation and educational enrichment.
- Completes and maintains accurate records of all activities and required paperwork (weekly logs, attendance sheets, etc) in a timely manner.
- Ensures the facility is prepared and ready for activities (opening doors, turning on lights, preparing any special equipment and/or supplies for the activity, etc)
- Provides individualized assistance to participants in recreation and after school activities, as needed.
- Acts as an appropriate role model for participants.
- Encourages participants to socialize, communicate, and fulfill needs independently.
- Redirects participants through positive actions.
- Reports all possible cases of illness to the Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Program Manager and provides assistance to participants that become ill while at the center.
- Ensures the safety of each participant by monitoring activities, maintaining a sanitary, clutter-free environment, and participating in safety training and emergency drills.
- Reports suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation of participants immediately per program and agency policies and procedures.
- Provides quality specialized services while being mindful of resource usage.
- Participates in department and team meetings as scheduled.
- Participates in assigned meetings, professional development, and training as required.

**NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES**
- Serves as back-up to various program staff by providing coverage of all work teams, personal cares in the absence of the regular staff member, and a summary of events upon their return.
- Assists with the coordination of client transportation needs.
- Supports participants with ADLs (toileting, bathing, ambulating, transfers, feeding, changing clothes, etc.
- Performs other duties (or functions) as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Some experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
- TB test required.
- Current CPR, First Aid, CPI, and/or Universal Precautions training/license preferred.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance preferred.
- A Criminal Background Check must meet the requirements of the State of WI licensure for day programming.

**Specialized Skills/Abilities/Knowledge**:

- Ability to communicate in a detailed and consistent manner with Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Program Manager and other program staff.
- Awareness of disability issues.
- Ability to interact with people from culturally diverse backgrounds and display strong customer relation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to problem-solve issues.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
- Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
- Must exercise sound judgment in making decisions and act accordingly.

- May be required to drive, and transport clients, which includes assisting individuals in and out of vehicles.
- Will be exposed to loud/noisy environments.
