The Student Engagement and Outreach Team works within the Learning and Engagement Department, the University Libraries as a whole, and the larger Texas A&M campus. Their focus is creating engaging, fun, and collaborative programs and events that promote library services, resources, and ultimately student success. An outreach librarian’s day is never dull, and every day is different See below for an example of activities and expertise areas.
- Outreach & engagement coordination
- K-12 school and visitors programs
- 1st year experience (Hullabaloo U Course, Orientations, Camps, etc.)
- Co-curricular learning programs and campus partners (Hullabaloo U,
- ResLife, etc.)
- Working with strategic student groups
- Advocacy for library engagement in campus-wide student initiatives

**Salary**:$62,900.00 annually

**Required Education and Experience**:

- Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school

**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Knowledge of academic library functions
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment with shifting priorities
- Ability to communicate with all levels of customers and employees

**Preferred Education and Experience**:

- Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS)
- Two years’ experience in an academic library
- Experience starting and completing special projects/programming and/or event coordination and planning
- Experience in academic library outreach

**Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Confidence in public speaking and representing the libraries
- Energetic, ambitious, and enthusiastic to develop library outreach
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment
- Knowledge of current trends in library services and outreach
- Ability to think creatively
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various groups in the libraries and across campus

**Responsibilities**:

- **Outreach and Engagement**: Collaborates with colleagues on design, delivery, assessment, and promotion of library programs that support information literacy and student success. Promotes Libraries’ services at specific library and university events. Works collaboratively with other library branches and librarians in the Learning and Engagement Department. Acts as a liaison for/between Cushing Special Collections and Archives and the unit for outreach and programming efforts. Participates in departmental and interdepartmental meetings and activities as a member of the Learning and Engagement Department. Serves on committees or undertakes special projects. Ensures and meets the mission, goals, and objectives of the Library and University.
- **Tours and Orientations**:In collaboration with the Learning and Engagement team, develop, implement, and assess library tours for students, faculty, staff, and community visitors for all Texas A&M University main campus libraries. Serves as a point of contact for scheduling and leading tours. Builds partnerships with campus groups to communicate library needs, expectations, and policies regarding tours and orientations. Participates in planning the promotion of tours in collaboration with the Learning and Engagement Department, marketing, and other potential stakeholders.
- **Contributions to the Profession**:Participates in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs. Serves on campus and library committees and engages with campus units to advocate for Library presence in campus and student success initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
