Job Summary The Full Stack Developer will own the development and operation of a vendor gateway that integrates third-party charging providers across multiple hardware manufacturers and vendor platforms. The role will focus primarily on backend engineering using Python to build protocol clients, abstraction layers, API integrations, canonical data models, onboarding capabilities, and reliable live services for fleet systems. The developer will also use React to build and maintain charger onboarding and operations tooling. This role requires strong production engineering, real-time systems, API integration, observability, and cloud operations experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the vendor gateway end to end, including protocol clients, abstraction layers, onboarding tooling, and live service contracts supporting fleet systems.
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate production backend services and API integrations using Python.
• Build API clients and integrations against external systems with varying reliability and consistency.
• Design canonical data models and abstraction layers to normalize and reconcile data from heterogeneous third-party systems.
• Develop and maintain charger onboarding and operations interfaces using React.
• Integrate external systems using REST APIs and webhooks and query vendor databases using SQL when clean APIs are unavailable.
• Build and support event-driven or streaming systems that provide real-time data to downstream consumers.
• Implement reliability practices including observability, retries, graceful degradation, and production monitoring.
• Deploy and monitor services in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
• Work with containers and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable application delivery.
• Own services across the software lifecycle, including development, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing operations.
• Support integrations involving charging protocols and third-party charging networks.
• Apply DevOps and SRE practices to improve service reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
• Strong backend engineering experience building and operating production services.
• Strong production experience with Python for developing backend services and API clients.
• Experience with asynchronous programming, typing, and modern Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Experience building and maintaining React applications for operational or business tooling.
• Experience integrating external systems using REST APIs and webhooks.
• Experience working with SQL and querying external or vendor databases.
• Experience designing canonical data models and abstraction layers across heterogeneous data sources.
• Experience with event-driven or streaming systems and technologies such as message queues or Kafka.
• Experience with observability and monitoring for production services and real-time systems.
• Experience deploying and monitoring applications in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
• Experience working with containers and CI/CD.
• Ability to independently own services across development, deployment, monitoring, and production operations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Hands-on experience with OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) and charger-to-central-system communication across multiple manufacturers.
• Hands-on experience with OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface) for integrating third-party charging networks, including locations, tariffs, session data, and real-time status.
• Experience in EV charging, energy, telematics, IoT device fleets, or similar domains involving data normalization across multiple hardware vendors.
• Experience with TypeScript.
• DevOps/SRE experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring.
