About the Opportunity
We're working with an early-stage space technology company developing advanced spacecraft systems and complex flight hardware for demanding space applications.
The business is expanding its engineering and manufacturing capabilities and is looking to appoint a Senior Spacecraft Integration & Test Engineer to take ownership of hardware assembly, integration, verification, and qualification activities.
This is a hands‑on engineering position, working directly with mechanical, electrical, avionics, and software systems to ensure hardware is successfully integrated, tested, and prepared for flight.
The opportunity would suit an experienced AIT Engineer who enjoys solving practical engineering problems, working closely with hardware, and taking responsibility for delivering reliable systems.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for leading integration and test activities across complex aerospace hardware, supporting the full process from engineering release through assembly, qualification, and final verification.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading assembly, integration, and test activities for spacecraft, payloads, mechanisms, avionics, and associated aerospace hardware.
- Developing integration plans, assembly procedures, work instructions, and detailed test documentation.
- Planning and executing mechanical and electrical integration activities, ensuring compatibility between different subsystems.
- Developing and executing functional, qualification, acceptance, and environmental test procedures.
- Supporting environmental testing, including thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration, shock, and EMI/EMC.
- Working directly with flight hardware, test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
- Identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical, and system‑level integration issues.
- Leading or supporting failure investigations, root‑cause analysis, nonconformance resolution, and corrective actions.
- Reviewing engineering drawings, CAD models, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interface documentation.
- Maintaining accurate integration records, hardware traceability, configuration control, and test results.
- Developing test fixtures, ground support equipment, and improvements to existing integration processes.
- Collaborating with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test teams to improve hardware reliability and readiness.
You’ll have significant responsibility for integration and test activities while remaining directly involved in the practical engineering work.
What We’re Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience involving complex hardware.
- Spacecraft, satellite, launch vehicle, or other flight hardware integration.
- Significant hands‑on experience in hardware assembly, integration, testing, manufacturing, or production.
- Experience developing and executing integration plans, assembly procedures, or test procedures.
