I’m currently supporting a Southwest Connecticut-based aerospace and precision manufacturing group with the appointment of a Multi-Site Engineering Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Process Engineering Manager or senior manufacturing engineer looking to take ownership of engineering activities across multiple manufacturing facilities.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will oversee manufacturing engineering across two facilities in Southwest Connecticut, working closely with Operations, Quality and site leadership.
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role focused on improving manufacturing processes, supporting new product introduction, resolving technical challenges and driving operational improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate manufacturing engineering activities across two facilities
- Provide technical leadership and support to engineering teams and manufacturing operations
- Develop, optimise and improve manufacturing processes, tooling and production methods
- Support new product introduction, process development and production readiness
- Identify and resolve manufacturing challenges affecting quality, productivity and delivery
- Drive improvements in process capability, cycle times, scrap, rework and manufacturing efficiency
- Work closely with Operations and Quality to implement corrective actions and sustainable process improvements
- Support engineering projects, equipment improvements and manufacturing capability development
- Establish consistent engineering practices and standards across both facilities
- Develop engineering talent and support continuous improvement initiatives
The ideal background
I’m particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:
- 5+ years’ engineering experience within aerospace, defence or advanced metal manufacturing
- A strong background in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Experience supporting complex manufacturing processes in a production environment
- Knowledge of precision manufacturing processes such as machining, metal forming, tooling, heat treatment, plating or other specialist processes
- Experience improving manufacturing efficiency, product quality and process capability
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and experience implementing practical engineering solutionsExperience working closely with Operations, Quality and manufacturing teams
- Engineering leadership or supervisory experience, although strong senior engineers looking to progress into management will also be considered
- An engineering degree or relevant technical qualification
Why consider it?
This is not a purely design-focused engineering role removed from manufacturing operations.
It is a hands-on leadership opportunity with responsibility for engineering performance across two facilities, supporting technically demanding manufacturing processes and making a direct impact on quality, productivity and operational performance.
The position offers an opportunity to take on broader engineering responsibility within an established aerospace and precision manufacturing environment.
If you have a strong aerospace, defence or advanced manufacturing engineering background and enjoy solving technical challenges directly within manufacturing operations, I would be interested in speaking with you.
