Embedded Software Engineer
Required Skills &
Experience:
4+ years of embedded software engineering experience, ideally within Defense, Aerospace, Space, Medical Device, or another highly regulated/complex hardware environment rather than commercial application development. Strong hands-on experience developing embedded software in C/C++. Must be able to work at the low-level/board level, not primarily Python, Java, or higher-level software development. Experience working with a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) such as RTEMS, FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or Green Hills INTEGRITY. Linux-only embedded experience will not be sufficient. Experience developing low-level software, device drivers, and/or Board Support Packages (BSPs) and integrating software directly with hardware. Working knowledge of hardware, circuits, schematics, and electronic interfaces, with the ability to partner closely with FPGA/VHDL and hardware engineers during integration and troubleshooting. Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical discipline.
Nice to Have Skills &
Experience:
Direct experience with RTEMS is highly preferred; FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or Green Hills INTEGRITY are also strong backgrounds. Experience with Gaisler LEON3 processors and/or PolarFire SoC / RISC-V architectures. Hands-on experience developing or integrating HDLC drivers/interfaces. Experience with flight software, flight computers, flight termination systems, launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other mission-critical embedded systems.
