Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-demand Telemetry unit. This position will involve providing care for patients with a range of complex medical conditions, requiring strong skills in telemetry and medication administration.

Shift Information

  • Shift: 12-hour days
  • Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirements: Flexibility to fit into the core staff rotation
Unit Information
  • Unit Type: Telemetry
  • Number of Beds: 28
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 (flexible to 1:6 based on staffing)
Patient Population

This unit handles a variety of high-acuity patients, including:
  • Pulmonary disorders such as Cystic Fibrosis and pneumonia
  • Liver patient overflow
  • Sickle cell disease with complex pain management needs
  • Geriatric patients with active sickness and high fall risk
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care for MedSurg/Telemetry patients
  • Titrate drips, including heparin, amiodarone, and blood transfusions
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips (must pass EKG exam)
  • Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry experience required
  • Strong IV start skills essential
  • Must have positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Additional Information
  • Charge nurse available on all shifts with a smaller patient load
  • Travelers may be required to float to other MedSurg acuity areas
  • Unit offers a supportive team environment
  • Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 2 days
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Teal scrubs required
