Practice Building & Business Development
- Lead the growth of an MEP engineering practice focused on healthcare, hospitals, data centers, and mission-critical facilities.
- Serve as a true seller-doer, balancing business development with technical and project leadership.
- Develop relationships with hospital systems, healthcare organizations, data center owners/operators, architects, developers, general contractors, and other strategic partners.
- Leverage existing industry relationships while developing new clients and referral channels throughout Phoenix and the greater Arizona market.
- Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities.
- Lead and contribute to proposals, scopes of work, fee development, project budgets, presentations, interviews, and client strategy.
- Build a sustainable pipeline of repeat and referral business.
- Serve as a trusted technical and business advisor to clients.
- Take ownership of opportunities from initial relationship development through pursuit, award, delivery, and account expansion.
Engineering & Project Leadership
- Provide senior technical direction for complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering projects.
- Remain hands-on and engaged in engineering design, calculations, specifications, equipment selection, technical reviews, and problem-solving.
- Lead projects from conceptual design through construction administration, commissioning, and closeout.
- Oversee projects involving hospitals, outpatient facilities, healthcare campuses, data centers, and other mission-critical environments.
- Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, developers, consultants, and internal engineering teams.
- Review designs for reliability, redundancy, constructability, maintainability, energy efficiency, and code compliance.
- Provide technical oversight and QA/QC of engineering deliverables.
- Manage project scope, staffing, schedules, budgets, client expectations, and profitability.
- Participate in site assessments, field investigations, construction meetings, and client presentations.

- Acute-care hospitals and medical centers
- Outpatient and ambulatory surgical facilities
- Complex clinical environments
- Healthcare renovations and expansions

- Data centers and mission-critical facilities
- Critical and emergency power systems
- Generators and UPS systems
- HVAC and central plant systems
- Cooling and heat-rejection systems
- Medical gas systems
- Building automation and controls
- Fire/life safety systems
- High-density computing environments
- Redundant mechanical and electrical infrastructure
- Infrastructure upgrades within active facilities
- Phased construction requiring minimal interruption to ongoing operations
Build & Lead the Team
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain engineers, designers, project managers, and technical professionals.
- Determine the initial team structure and grow the organization as revenue and project demand increase.
- Develop junior and mid-level engineers into future technical and project leaders.
- Establish engineering standards, workflows, QA/QC procedures, and project-delivery best practices.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines and offices to provide integrated client solutions.
- Develop a culture centered around technical excellence, accountability, client service, collaboration, and growth.
- Balance utilization, project delivery, hiring, revenue generation, and profitability
What you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 10-15+ years of progressive MEP engineering experience preferred.
- Significant experience with healthcare/hospital and/or data center/mission-critical projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Arizona PE registration or ability to obtain Arizona registration is highly desirable.
- Strong technical background with demonstrated experience delivering complex engineering projects.
- Seller-doer or practice-builder capabilities with a history of developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
- Understanding of the full business-development lifecycle, including opportunity development, proposal strategy, fee development, budgeting, project delivery, and account growth.
