Position OverviewThe Allied Behavioral Health Center in Chicago, Illinois is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team in a full-time remote capacity. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will leverage your expertise to conduct evaluations, develop comprehensive treatment plans, and facilitate a range of therapeutic interventions that promote mental well-being.

Work EnvironmentIn this remote work setting, you will have the flexibility to provide counseling services from the comfort of your home or any location of your choice, ensuring you have a perfect work-life balance. Our telehealth facility is designed to support efficient and compassionate care, utilizing state-of-the-art electronic health record (EHR) systems that facilitate seamless communication and documentation. You will collaborate with a supportive team of fellow mental health professionals to share insights and strategies that enhance client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough preliminary interviews with clients, documenting case histories from initial consultations through to the conclusion of treatment.
- Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health utilizing evidence-based assessment tools.
- Develop personalized intervention and recovery plans tailored to the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
- Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing therapeutic techniques that foster open communication and healing.
- Regularly monitor and assess clients’ progress throughout their treatment plans, making necessary adjustments to optimize outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, medical doctors, nurses, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive care plans and interventions.
- Follow up with inpatient care providers for clients requiring hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care during their recovery process.
- Identify at-risk behaviors that could hinder recovery and implement strategies to mitigate these challenges.
- Support family members and primary caregivers in managing the complexities of mental health issues within the home environment.
You will work with a diverse clientele, including individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and various co-occurring disorders. Our telehealth services ensure that we reach underserved populations, making it vital for you to approach each client with cultural competence and empathy. Your role will not only focus on symptom relief but also on equipping clients with coping strategies that foster resilience and long-term mental wellness.
Qualifications- Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
- Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
- Demonstrated experience working as a mental health counselor in a clinical setting.
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems, ideally AVATAR, for documentation and client management.
- Knowledge of underlying physical and emotional health conditions, as well as addiction disorders.
- Awareness of and compliance with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively document and share client progress and strategies.
- Empathetic and personable approach, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative care environment.
- Familiarity with telehealth counseling practices and digital therapeutic interventions.
- Understanding of crisis intervention strategies and skills to de-escalate high-stress situations.
- Prior experience with community outreach and engagement, particularly with marginalized populations.
