Job Summary:

Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for facilitating training programs for newly hired and remedial drivers regarding the SMITH system, safe vehicle operations, and J.B. Hunt safety policies. The incumbent will conduct check rides with drivers to ensure Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance and be available to answer standard questions about safety, compliance, and equipment.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:


• Maintain attendance record for training programs


• Facilitate defensive driving class utilizing the SMITH System training program; training includes a 2-hour class and 1-hour on-the-road practicum per student


• Conduct check rides with drivers to ensure compliance and safe vehicle operation; provide evaluations to respective management


• Facilitate classes related to safety and DOT compliance


• Facilitate focused training for drivers identified as needing remedial assistance


• Act as a point of contact to answer inquiries related to safety policies, DOT guidelines, and electronic equipment (Electronic Logging Device, front and forward facing cameras, etc.) functionality


• Notify appropriate contacts when drivers have completed training

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent with up to 1 year of relevant experience and/or military equivalent.
  • AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record as per JBH standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age with High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in presenting, facilitating, and/or training delivery
  • Ability to be both flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Ability to lead/teach in a classroom environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret information
  • Willingness to travel

This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
