Fleet and Equipment Mechanic

*Fleet and Equipment Mechanic* *Halo North - Bloomfield, NM 87413* Halo Services Inc. is hiring a Fleet and Equipment Mechanic for our facility located in Bloomfield, NM. The successful candidate will be required to live in the Bloomfield/Farmington area. Candidates not living in the area need not apply unless willing to relocate. *Duties to include:* Repair and maintain Diesel and Gasoline Engines that power many heavy and light-duty equipment and vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing diesel engines and all the components that make the engines operate efficiently. Because of the electronics in fuel regulators, emissions control systems, and timing systems, the Diesel Technician / Mechanic must be able to use a laptop or hand-held computer unit to improve efficiency. The successful candidate must be familiar with drivetrains, hydraulic systems, and ground-engaging tools and must be capable of obtaining HVAC certification. The successful candidate is responsible for FMCSA Annual Vehicle Inspections and must be able to become FMCSA Brake Certified. Compensation commensurate with experience, certifications, and education. More specific job duties include but are not limited to: * Safely diagnose, inspect, repair, and maintain vehicles and equipment * Train, assist, and oversee repairs performed by subordinate employees * Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all inspection forms * Obtain and maintain ASE certifications in the field of automotive/diesel technology * Maintain annual FMCSA/DOT requirements for all applicable vehicles, trailers, and equipment * Stay current with modern technology, emission standards, safety procedures, hazardous waste handling, and maintenance practices * Utilize computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as parts/maintenance software programs for the creation of customer invoices, quotes, warranty claims, maintenance and repair records, creation of checklists and worksheets, and parts ordering * Manage personnel by assigning job duties for the day, delegating workload, and collecting timesheets daily when applicable. * Perform employee performance evaluations when relevant * Utilize public relations skills to create a professional working relationship with parts and service facilities. Review invoices for accuracy, monitor core credits, refunds, warranty returns, and discounts * Work with the Shipping/Receiving Manager and Field Foremen to schedule vehicles, trailers, and equipment for repair and maintenance in the shop or field *Required work experience, education, and skills* * Five (5) + years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic * Associate degree or trade school certification in diesel technology but will substitute certificates of training in Diesel powered Engines plus five (5) + years of on-the-job training * Minimum of a Valid Class D Driver's License (Candidate must be insurable under Halos auto insurance) * Class A Commercial Driver's License w/Air Brakes and Tractor-Trailer Certification (preferred) * Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examination Certificate * Must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and respond to official inquiries * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 * Willingness to learn and motivation to grow with the company * Strong work ethic * Ability to take direction * Ability to work in a team setting *Salary* * Salary commensurate with experience * Must be able to relocate or reliably commute to Bloomfield, NM *Benefits* * PTO when eligible * Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance * AFLAC * Matching 401(K) Retirement Plan * Direct Deposit Services EEO-AA / All applicants are subject to Background Screening, Pre-Employment Drug, and Alcohol screening Job Type: Full-time Benefits: * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Vision insurance Application Question(s): * Please detail your work experience and share with our team why, based on the job description for this position, you feel you are qualified for and the appropriate candidate for this opportunity.
