This is a civilian position. Work involves performing:
- Firefighting and rescue operations.
- Operating the dispatch center.
- Performing fire prevention and safety activities.
- Assists the Department in providing life safety and stabilization for all actual and potential incidents on the MTANG / Great Falls International Airport and in providing sound fire prevention through education, inspection and surveillance.
- Operate all assigned ARFF structural apparatuses and equipment.

Qualifications
Knowledge: Must have basic knowledge of firefighting principles, suppression methods and agents, aircraft systems, firefighting apparatus and equipment and safety considerations due to associated personnel hazards.
Education & Certification requirements: Completion of high school or equivalent, Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter, EMT, CPR and Hazardous Materials Operations Certifications, within twelve (12) months of hire.
Experience: Must be skilled in the operation and maintenance of assigned apparatus, equipment, vehicles and related systems operated by the Department.
- Must meet and maintain NFPA Standard 1582 Medical Requirements for the firefighter and have no record of pyrophobia, acrophobia, or claustrophobia for entry, award and/or retention of this position.
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly is mandatory for entry, award, and/or retention of this position.
- Eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance according to AFI 31-501 is mandatory for award and retention of this position.
- Must possess a current restricted area badge (AF Form 1199C) at all times.
- Qualification to operate government vehicles is mandatory for retention of this position.
- Must possess a valid MT Drivers license at all times and have a good driving record.
- Visual acuity correctable to at least 20/20 in one eye, 20/30 in the other eye and not more than 20/200 in each eye.
- Normal color vision as defined in NFPA 1582 is mandatory for entry into this position.
- Pass applicable written and practical tests.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must have demonstrated the ability to work with, and engage in, diverse working environments within and outside of the Department of Military Affairs
