Fertigation Technician Lead

The Fertigation Technician Lead oversees and directs all irrigation and fertigation activities across the entire grow. This role is responsible for planning, executing, optimizing, and supervising fertigation operations while ensuring compliance with company SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Fertigation Lead manages and trains Fertigation Technicians, collaborates closely with Cultivation leadership, and performs hands-on fertigation and garden duties as needed to support production goals. Essential Functions and Responsibilities The essential functions of the Fertigation Lead include, but are not limited to, the following: Leadership & People Management Lead, supervise, and support Fertigation Technicians, ensuring daily tasks are completed accurately and on schedule. Train new and existing team members on fertigation SOPs, safety protocols, equipment use, and best practices. Provide ongoing coaching and training . Fertigation & Irrigation Oversight Develop, implement, and adjust irrigation and fertigation plans in coordination with Cultivation leadership. Oversee the checking and balancing of EC and pH levels of stock tanks according to SOPs. Ensure fertilizer concentration tanks are properly filled and maintained. Monitor crop moisture levels and evaluate nutrient and water sample data to inform decision-making with Cultivation leadership Respond to system alarms and lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues quickly and effectively. Understand the process of nutrient delivery within our systems. Monitor and ensure proper D.O levels within Ozone skid and day tanks. Equipment Management Ensure irrigation systems, fertigation systems, and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition. Oversee cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of nutrient tanks, pumps, filters, and tools. Coordinate installation and maintenance of irrigation components, including valves, emitters, drip tubing, drip stakes, and bench lines with the Facilities Department. Coordinate timely trellis installation in newly populated rooms in alignment with cultivation schedules. Ensure regular calibration of nutrient testing instruments. Inventory, Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate records of nutrient usage and fertigation activities as well as all stock tank data. Oversee inventory management of fertilizers and related supplies; communicate needs and shortages proactively. Ensure proper storage, sanitation, and organization of all fertigation tools and equipment. Enforce compliance with safety standards, PPE usage, company SOPs, and product label requirements. Ensure all team activities meet regulatory and audit requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Other Requirements Minimum of 6 months experience in regulated cannabis cultivation, with fertigation or irrigation experience preferred. Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of Dosatron or injection nutrient systems. Ability to make informed decisions related to nutrient delivery, system troubleshooting, and workflow prioritization. Effective communication skills with the ability to train, lead, and motivate a team. Comfortable working split shifts and overseeing after-hours sanitization when required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to pass a background check. Work Environment Close visual focus required. Extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate small objects. Daily handling of organic matter and exposure to fertilizers, nutrients, and chemical pesticides. Ability to wear PPE as required (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection). Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE.
