Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The incumbent is primarily responsible for preparing and dissecting surgical pathology specimens. The incumbent supervises the work of the gross room staff and the daily operation of the gross room and autopsy services. Teaches grossing techniques to pathology residents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Knowledge of laws and regulatory requirements relating to decedent affairs
  • Knowledge of laws and regulatory requirements for CAP, JCAHO and California State laboratory law for Anatomic Pathology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Completion of a 2-year Pathology Assistant program and Pathology Assistant board certified or eligible by hire date
  • Completion of a 2-year Pathologists' Assistant program (NAACLS accredited) and ASCP Board Certified
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science field
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a UC and/or union environment
  • Experience in an Anatomic Pathology department
