For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ *Primary Role*_ Responsible for the on-site inspection of construction work for water resource projects in the transmission and distribution department. _ *Key Accountabilities*_ * Conducts on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure conformance to contract documents. * Oversees compliance with the requirements of permits or approvals granted for construction. Coordinate with permitting agencies for inspections and certifications of compliance. * Represents the Water Company as the primary point of on-site contact for construction contractors. Serve as a liaison between construction contractors and the Water Company. * Represents the Water Company as primary point of contact for customers when scheduling service line work on customers property and collecting water samples from the customer. * Prepare project documentation in accordance with Company Standards. * Maintains records of work changes and assists in preparation of "as built" records. * Review and approval of construction contractor progress payments. _ *Knowledge/Skills*_ * Knowledge of engineering specifications and surveying principles. * Knowledge of construction means and methods. * Knowledge of federal and company safety regulations, and knowledge of critical path and method scheduling principles. * Coordinating, scheduling and organizational skills. * Ability to read engineering plans and specifications. * Communication skills (e.g., verbal, listening and recording). * Interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, cooperation). * Attention to details. _ *Experience/Education*_ * Four (4) years experience on water transmission, distribution, installation, replacement, and repair. * High School Diploma. _ *Work Environment*_ * 90% Field/10% Office. _ *Travel Requirements*_ * Travel within 2 hrs. drive occasionally required, infrequent overnight travel. _ *Competencies*_ Champions safety Customer obsessed Cultivates innovation Nimble learning Drives Results Collaborates * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing* * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants* *based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.*
