Construction Materials Technician

**Position** : Construction Materials Technician (CMT Field Technician 1)

We are seeking a **Construction Materials Tester** to join our Lakewood, CO team

The successful CMT will work on large highway paving or construction projects at remote locations which require the technician to stay out of town for the duration of the project, normally 4 to 8 weeks, returning each weekend. Atlas will coordinate all accommodations, daily per diem for meals, and provide transportation via work truck that will be assigned to each Tech. Plenty of overtime hours to be worked each week. **Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:**

+ This position includes materials testing to determine the physical properties of highway construction materials, including Aggregate and Asphalt Mixtures.

+ Construction Materials Technicians will travel to construction sites and perform testing for producers, contractors, developers and/or owners for the materials they are using in their construction.

+ Perform a variety of job site tests, record test data, and interpret test results.

+ Sample and test Hot Mix Asphalt, Cement Concrete, and other surfacing materials.

+ Sample and perform aggregate tests such as sieve analysis, sand equivalent, and moisture content.

+ Use nuclear gauge to test densities of asphalt concrete, surfacing and earthwork.

+ Communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a cooperative and courteous manner with the public, contractors, supervisors, and other department staff.

**Minimum Requirements:**

+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ A science background is a plus.

+ Proficient use of math skills

+ Excellent communication skills are essential.

+ Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word

+ LabCAT is a plus, but training and certification enrollment provided.

+ Travel - 80%

**Compensation:**

$20 - $23 hourly

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the states law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
