Clinician/Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist

Overview:
Under supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Clinician/Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist contributes as a member of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the community-integrated rehabilitation of adults with brain injuries. Primary functions include 1) conducting clinical assessments at intake, admission, and throughout care within our agency covering rehabilitation, skill development, and behavior management needs, 2) development of intervention plans to address skill development and rehabilitation protocols implemented by direct support staff, 3) serving as clinical consultant to a caseload of residential programs, 4) oversight of rehabilitation and behavioral programs implemented by a direct support staff, 5) continuous staff development and training activities as part of program consultation, 6) collaboration with program administration and leadership in the ongoing performance improvement and systems development, and 7) maintaining optimal relationships with families, program staff, and State caseworkers.
The position requires experience with people with acquired brain injuries (ABI) and rehabilitation. The position requires an advanced degree in a field with direct applicability to community-based rehabilitation for people with ABI (MA/MS in mental health, rehabilitation, applied behavior analysis, psychology, and related fields). The clinician must be able to effectively form positive relationships and collaborate with participants, co-workers, and all stakeholders.
Assistant ABI Clinician/Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist. With approval of Director of Clinical Services and the Vice President of SHNC, the designation assistant may be added to the job title. This is reserved for individuals who have completed a substantial portion of graduate coursework in a clinical field related to serving individuals with ABI, plus field experience in serving people with ABI and/or field experience delivering (supervised) clinical services in another role/capacity; plus currently enrolled in a graduate program of study leading to completion of a terminal degree appropriate for licensure or certification as a clinical specialist. (Maintaining enrollment and meeting an agreed upon completion date are required for continued employment).
Responsibilities:RESPONSIBILITIES/OBJECTIVES:
- Delivers a continuum of comprehensive rehabilitative services and supports to individuals with acquired brain injuries, neurodevelopmental disorders, or chronic neurodegenerative conditions within their natural environments.
- Develops and maintains supporting working relationships with the individuals families/guardians, program staff, state case managers/coordinators, and other stakeholders.
- Participates in intake and admissions process as assigned.
- Conducts assessment of rehabilitative needs, skills development needs, and functional behavior assessments.
- Develops, monitors, and evaluates individualized rehabilitative care plans.
- Develops, monitors, and evaluates comprehensive functional assessment-based behavior support plans targeting both reductions of challenging behavior and acquisition of replacement skills.
- Maintains responsibility for staff/caregiver training, coaching, and on-site technical assistance to support plan implementation.
- Provides on-site oversight rehabilitative services and plan implementation (at least monthly and as necessary).
- Conducts assessments of interests, life goals, skills, and participant quality of life.
- Consults with administrative, clinical, and residential staff, and other participating programs (for example, a participants day program or mental health provider)
- Participates in the Individual Support Plan (ISP) process, collaborating with other members of the team.
- Participates in staff meetings or other meetings as needed.
- Designs and/or conducts staff trainings on assigned topics.
- Maintains compliance with Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations in areas related to these functions.
- Maintains confidential records, completes mandated reports, and completes regulatory documentation requirements relative to clinician activities.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.

- Works under direct supervision of a qualified clinician (licensed, certified, or certification-eligible in an appropriate discipline).
EXPECTATIONS:
- To carry out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.
- Complete and/or maintain required staff trainings, including training in a foundation-approved crisis management curriculum.
- Maintain licensure/certification for the term of employment.
- Adhere to the applicable professional code of ethics commensurate with licensure/certification.
- Adhere to general principles of business ethics.
- Adhere to all personnel policies of SHF and SHNC.
- To work in harmony and in support of the Seven Hills Foundation and its affiliates.
- Obtains Certification as a Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) from the Academy of Brain Injury Specialists by a designated deadline.
- Assistant ABI Clinician/Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist.
- Maintains enrollment in graduate program leading to completion of a terminal degree appropriate for licensure or certification as a clinical specialist
- Completes program by agreed upon date
- Masters degree, preferably in psychology, rehabilitation, mental health, related field.
- Licensed or license eligible/certified or certification eligible for individual discipline.
- Experience providing rehabilitative and supportive services to people with brain injury.
- Knowledge of brain injury, mental health, human development, learning, abnormal psychology, intervention/treatment planning, and positive behavior support.
- Training and experience in clinical interviewing and direct behavioral assessment of rehabilitation needs, skill deficits, and challenging behavior.
- Skilled collaborator with experience working with specialist clinicians across multiple disciplines (such as medical, nursing, mental health, rehabilitation).
- Excellent writing skills with experience preparing clinical reports and progress summaries.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with experience leading clinical meetings, sharing case information to support staff, and presenting to other clinical disciplines.
- Experience in staff supervision, training, mentoring, or development.
- Valid drivers license, ability to drive, and means of consistent transportation.
- Travel to other cities and towns may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion. Ability to perform primary job functions while standing for extended periods of time.
