Job Description

Job Summary

Performs collection follow-up on insurance outstanding balances; identification of claim problems and resolution; standards within compliance of government and managed care contract terms.

Essential Functions
  • Performs follow-up on outstanding insurance balances within required time frame. Obtains confirmation of payment or required documentation.
  • Documents all actions taken on appropriate systems so that is clearly communicated process for resolution.
  • Makes appropriate number of calls based on assigned payer.
  • Handles and resolves incoming correspondence within 5 days of receipt and updates system
  • Effectively analyze assigned accounts using AS400, Meditech, Accurint, Cerner, directory assistance and credit reports to collect accounts in full.
  • Handle all inbound and outbound calls with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Understanding and appropriate use of all account dispositions and self-pay policies and procedures.
  • Abide by all local, state and federal laws including FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA, CFPB, PCI, UDAAP & HIPAA
  • Reviews related materials and attends in-services, as directed, to maintain current knowledge of applicable regulations, policies and procedures. Remains up-to-date on departmental policies and/or developments impacting area of responsibility.
  • Displays competency in health care billing requirement/follow up. Maintains current knowledge regarding assigned/related area by keeping up to date on communication, newsletters and resource information within department.
  • Demonstrates proficiency at hospital wide and/or department specific computer software and technology. Displays competency in the use of department equipment, all computer software, fax, telephones and copy machine.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • Associate Degree preferred
  • 0-1 years Strong interpersonal and customer service skills preferred
  • 0-1 years To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software and E-mail software preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word is preferred
