Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility Customer Service is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Sacramento, CA

This engineering position with Siemens Customer Service Group provides the opportunity to participate in the development of solutions for a variety of issues, including obsolescence, software optimization, and product improvement, to support our Rolling Stock customers through the life of their vehicles.

In conjunction with Product Management colleagues, capture engineering project requirements, including modifications and upgrades, as a result of either specific inquiries or pro-active product improvement opportunities.

Perform material specification, schematic preparation, and appropriate follow-up. Lead semi-complex design, development, testing, and modifications of solutions. Participate in preparing explanations and clarifying information to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of specifications, performance characteristics, or other technical data. Participate in communicating technical and commercial issues. Participate in recommending new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements.

What your day may look like:

  • Interpret electrical diagrams and perform circuit troubleshooting
  • Develop test concepts and technical functional descriptions for test equipment and systems
  • Develop equipment or system-level design documentation
  • Work closely with the electrical engineering team to develop project software that fulfills the project requirements
  • Develop software documentation and user manuals
  • Provide software expertise during the system design process with different engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, and industrial)
  • Develop and manage software release processes and revision control
  • Monitor industry practices to identify applicable standards and products to improve technical solutions and reliability
  • Review project requirements and develop software concept/framework
  • Support in the technical bid of maintenance and overhaul projects

What will make you successful in this role:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related discipline, or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the rail industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in electrical engineering or related field. This is not a new grad position.
  • C / C++ / Python scripting experience
  • LabView knowledge/experience

The salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA $90,300-$106,000. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
