A Day in the Life In this exciting role as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, in Capacitors Manufacturing, you will have responsibility for supporting manufacturing of high-quality components used in implantable medical devices. The Brooklyn Center facility supports the design, development, and production of components used in implantable devices for a variety of Medtronic businesses. In this role you will gain experience interacting with other operations support groups and multiple manufacturing processes, supporting your development and growth.
This role reports to the Capacitors Engineering Manager and is responsible for improving manufacturing quality, lead time and cost reduction through active problem solving, developing solutions, and implementing process changes in accordance with the quality system. Please note this role does work on-site in the manufacturing area.
Responsibilities:
Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.

Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.

Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Technical Skills:
Experience with laser welding operations is a plus.

Knowledge of manufacturing process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and working in regulated environments (FDA, ISO).

Skills & Competencies:
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have:
Experience working with operations and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Knowledge of quality systems, including CAPA and root cause analysis.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$97,600.00 - $146,400.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
