Part-Time Math Interventionist

The Part-Time Math Interventionist will provide targeted support to students in all grade levels but primarly in middle school who are struggling to meet grade-level math standards. This position involves working with small groups or individual students to reinforce foundational math skills, address learning gaps, and build confidence in mathematics. The Math Interventionist will collaborate with classroom teachers to align instruction and monitor student progress. This is a part-time position with a schedule that may vary based on student needs and school requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, targeted math intervention to small groups of students or individual students using research-based strategies and programs.
  • Assess student needs and identify specific areas of weakness in mathematics.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on student assessments and in collaboration with classroom teachers.
  • Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with classroom teachers regarding student progress and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, including assessment data and intervention activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure alignment of intervention activities with classroom instruction.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and make learning relevant.
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a growth mindset.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in math intervention.
  • Adhere to school and district policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must have valid North Carolina teaching license
  • Experience working with students who are struggling in mathematics.
  • Knowledge of research-based math intervention strategies and programs.
  • Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized intervention plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
