Merrimack Manufacturing is seeking a Controls Engineer for developing and validating state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. This key role is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing control systems in a cross-functional environment. At Merrimack Manufacturing, we are dedicated to the manufacturing of our designer's lifesaving novel medical devices while building a culture of innovation and ownership.
How you will make an impact:

  • Work collaboratively with engineering team(s) to develop and validate manufacturing equipment - including equipment automation and vision systems.
    • Owns the installing, optimization, and integration of electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes.
    • Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques.
    • Leads the implementation and improvement of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
    • Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.
    • Exercise statistical methods to improve manufacturing quality and validation requirements.
    • Troubleshoot manual and automated production equipment. Determine root cause and corrective action and document for findings and long-term preventative maintenance.
    • Interface with project engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to prioritize improvement projects relating to OEE.

Preferred skills and experience:
  • BS in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or suitable combination of successful prior experience and education.
    • 1-3+ years' experience in a Controls Engineering role inside of a manufacturing environment (medical device preferred)
    • Passionate about understanding how things work and solving tough technical problems
    • Strong communication and time management skills
    • Previous experience designing, building, or creating automated manufacturing equipment, including PLC integration, safety circuit integration, and sensor technologies.
    • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
    • Experience with GAMP 5 and determining Risk Assessments on equipment software
    • Experience with various vision systems and validating them with Measurement System Analysis in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with statistical software packages.
