Called SpaceMobile, this ultra-powerful network is being designed to provide connectivity at 4G/5G speeds everywhere on the planet - on land, at sea and in flight.Summary:The Electrical Engineer (Mechanisms) is responsible for defining the mechanisms electrical control requirements, engaging and working with vendors to quote implementations, and monitoring and tracking the design, manufacturing, and test at the selected vendor (including qualification if necessary), leading to engineering, qualification, and flight unit deliveries for the AST SpaceMobile space mission. Duties and Responsibilities: Lead Hold Down & Release Mechanism (HDRM) firing electronicsKeeper of requirementsOversee system and/or component contractor(s)Work interfaces with mechanisms/flight software teamPrepare development, qualification, acceptance, and flight integration plansPrepare and oversee preparation of mechanisms-related EGSELead motor driver electronicsKeeper of requirementsOversee motor driver system contractor or design in house if that path is selectedWork interfaces with mechanisms team/flight software teamPrepare development, qualification, acceptance, and flight integration plansPrepare and oversee preparation of EDSE test electronicsAssume additional mechanisms or actuator drive electronics efforts as necessary and as requirements evolveQualifications: The Electrical Engineer (Mechanisms) must have the following:US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card HolderA 4-year degree from an accredited university in an Electrical Engineering-related technical fieldA minimum of 3 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering-related field, preferably with significant experience in HDRM firing, explosive and non-explosive actuators, and motor drive electronicsDemonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with other engineersAbility to work flexibly and adaptively in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentExcellent English written and verbal communication skillsThe Senior Electrical Engineer (Mechanisms) should additionally have one or more of the following qualifications:An M.Eng. or MS Degree in an Electrical Engineering fieldExtensive familiarity with firing circuits and motor drive electronicsStrong understanding of spacecraft environments and electronics design requirementsExperience with meeting range safety requirements (AFSPCMAN91-710)7 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering-related field, preferably with significant experience in HDRM firing, explosive and non-explosive actuators, and motor drive electronicsAST SpaceMobile is an Equal Opportunity, at will Employer; employment is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.
