Job Description:
The Louisiana State University School of Music invites applications for a tenure-track position, Assistant Professor of Music Therapy, with appointment to begin in fall 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional teaching, research, and clinical skills along with the ability to develop a vibrant culture among students who value learning in an engaged, collaborative, and inspiring school culture. Music Therapy at LSU is a new program currently offering the baccalaureate degree but with the goal of developing a graduate program. Review of applications begins on December 16, 2024.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in music therapy, oversee clinical experiences
- Build and maintain a national/ international profile as an expert teacher and researcher, and contribute broadly to the artistic and educational milieu of a major School of Music at a Research I flagship university
- Provide service and participate in faculty governance. Other duties as assigned.
- Education Level: PhD
- Specific Degree: Music Therapy or related area
- Specific Experience: Appropriate professional credential or designation in music therapy; requisite years of full-time clinical experience or the equivalent part-time work; evidence of mastery of all professional levels and applicable advanced competencies in music therapy; a record of scholarly publication; ability to guide graduate research.
- Specific Experience: Experience in developing music therapy clinical partnerships in medical and other community settings; experience with music therapy supervision and clinical program oversight; leadership in local, regional, and/or national music therapy or related professional organizations.
