General Superintendent | High-End Residential GC
MatPel Builders is a premier general contractor based in the San Francisco Bay Area.We specialize in architecturally significant, high-end residential construction, including modern custom homes, contemporary estates, historic renovations, complex remodels, and retrofit projects.
We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations across multiple high-end residential projects.This role provides direct supervision of Superintendents, Foremen, and field staff, ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client service.The General Superintendent works closely with Project Managers and senior leadership, serving as the key field executive responsible for coordination, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Lead, mentor, and oversee Superintendents, Foremen, and field staff across multiple jobsites.
Partner with Project Managers to ensure seamless coordination and project delivery.
Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, conditions, and quality.
Enforce safety standards and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Recruit, train, evaluate, and mentor field personnel.
Manage weekly labor assignments and field resource allocation.
Investigate jobsite incidents and claims, implementing corrective measures as needed.
Oversee field-level cost control efforts, including labor utilization, subcontractor performance, change orders, and waste reduction.
Proactively identify project risks, site challenges, and design conflicts; Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design partners, and subcontractors.
Completion of at least five high-end projects in the role of Superintendent.
~ High school diploma required; Valid California drivers license with clean record and reliable transportation (truck or van preferred).
~ Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling tools).
~ Demonstrated track record of cost control, production optimization, and schedule performance.
~ Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate others.
~ Strong organizational and time management skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
~ Commitment to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.

Handle tools and materials with manual dexterity.
