This position will work out of the Middleton, Florida office, one of the newest and fastest growing Cities in Florida. The office is located approximately 10 miles west of Leesburg, Florida. At Vikus Water, The Villages community is our sole focus. Your role will encompass both public and private engineering responsibilities. Our office acts as the public engineering department that oversees ongoing utility operations management, implementation of large capital plans and programs. Vikus Water is the utility and water resources engineering firm for The Villages community, assisting in utility master planning efforts and overseeing water and wastewater treatment facility design-build projects.
We are leaders in water stewardship with the goal to reuse 100% of the captured stormwater and reclaimed water within the community. The Villages community currently consists of nearly 140,000 people served by twelve utility systems, operating the largest, most complex, environmentally focused alternative water system for outdoor usage in the United States. Since our inception, we have driven the use of alternative water resources from nearly 0% in older areas to 100% alternative water sources in the newest development.

*Responsibilities and Job Duties *
The professional engineer will apply substantial experience (7-20 years) to complex utility systems, leveraging an interdisciplinary approach that integrates engineering, project management, and operational oversight.
* Manage the development, budget, implementation, and oversight of long-term utility capital planning for a comprehensive, multi-million dollar, five-year capital plan.
* Provide expertise in complex utility planning, including utility formation, strategic planning, and design oversight for water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and alternative water systems.
* Oversee the preparation of plans and contract specifications for large capital improvement projects and assist in the bidding of these projects to assure completion on time and budget.
* Evaluate, troubleshoot, and design new and upgraded utility infrastructure, including Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, Sanitary Lift Stations, Stormwater and Irrigation Pump Stations, and utility main extensions.
* Lead the development of comprehensive utility standards and guidelines to ensure uniformity, enhance system reliability, and reduce long-term maintenance costs across all utility systems.
* Manage construction activities for conformance with contract documents, including performing site inspections, managing Project Meetings, and reviewing/responding to RFIs.
* Oversee and manage sophisticated regulatory compliance programs such as the Cross-Connection Control Program (covering ~3,200 commercial accounts) and the Fats, Oils & Grease (FOG) Program (~250 commercial customers).
* Provide high-level customer service support to resolve complex or sensitive utility-related issues.
* Review of site plans and development plans for conformance with municipal ordinances and regulatory compliance and utility standards.
*Qualifications*
* B.S. or M.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
* 7 - 20 years of Experience in Engineering for Water/Wastewater Utilities (10-20 years preferred for leadership roles within this category).
* Professional Licensure (PE license).
* Must have strong oral presentation skills and strong written communication skills.
* Ability to work well in multidisciplinary team environments and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of programs, specifically Excel and Word.
* Expertise in industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, WaterCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models or other water modeling software).
