Looking for an exciting locum tenens position in northern Michigan? We have an opportunity for a General/Trauma Surgeon near Skanee, MI, in a Level II trauma hospital. This ongoing position offers flexible scheduling and competitive all-inclusive rates for surgeons who are ready to make an impact in a high-acuity environment. Position Overview: Location: Near Skanee, Michigan Type: Locum Tenens, Call Coverage Only Department: General/Trauma Surgery Start Date: December 18, 2024 Duration: Ongoing need Shift: 24-hour shifts (7 a.m. to 7 a.m.) Coverage Details: Reason for Coverage: Scheduling needs Trauma Level: II Patients Per Shift: Average of 2 patients per shift, with a mix of general surgery and trauma cases Call Requirements: Beeper call Expected response time: within 10 minutes by phone and 15 minutes in-person Phone consults: Approximately 12 per 24 hours Call involves unassigned patients only Requirements: Certification: Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery; trauma surgery fellowship preferred Licensure: Must be licensed in Michigan Certifications Needed: ACLS, ATLS, BLS Additional Skills: Proficiency in various surgical procedures, including but not limited to: General and Trauma Surgery Laparoscopic surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, Nissen fundoplication) Chest wall/pleural procedures, breast surgery GI endoscopy (upper and lower) Vascular access, chest tube, and central line insertion Minor orthopedics and hand surgery Pediatric surgery capabilities are advantageous but not required Facility Information: Setting: Inpatient, trauma facility with advanced surgical capabilities Support Staff: No APP or resident supervision required EMR System: McKesson Credentialing: Estimated 30-day timeframe with complete application Privileges: Temporary privileges available to expedite onboarding Benefits: Flexible Schedule: Potential for two candidates to alternate weeks Holiday Coverage: Optional for major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the 4th of July) Competitive Compensation: All-inclusive rates to cover all hours worked Additional Perks: Travel and Lodging: Nearest major airport is Sawyer International Airport, with nearby lodging options available Insurance: Malpractice insurance provided by the contracting agency If you are interested in this locum tenens opportunity to provide essential surgical care near Skanee, MI, please apply using Job ID for more information.
