The Communications Content Manager will blend exceptional writing and editorial skills to elevate WCN’s communications with strategic content planning and project management. The ideal candidate is a creative story teller who is highly organized, collaborative, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects. Key Responsibilities Write (materials include, but are not limited to): Create clear, compelling fundraising content, including: concept notes providing overview of WCN’s programs, fundraising pitches and appeals, donor engagement emails and letters, proposals, pitch decks. Develop stewardship and impact materials such as: impact and stewardship reports, annual report content, newsletters, blog posts. Produce marketing collateral, including brochures, event invitations, and promotional emails. Draft organizational messaging, including talking points, boilerplate language, presentation outlines, and scripts. Visual Content and Digital Platforms Create presentation slide decks Develop designed pitch decks for donor meetings Serve as managing editor for WCN’s blog: Develop and maintain an editorial calendar with a consistent posting schedule Identify, assign, and coordinate topics with volunteer and freelance contributors Conduct interviews with staff and partners to develop original blog content Edit and publish blog posts, ensuring quality, accuracy, and alignment with WCN’s brand and voice Project Management Collaborate with staff and partners to gather content, secure approvals, and ensure accuracy of messaging. Manage timelines and production schedules for projects, including annual reports, and other collateral. Track and prioritize multiple deadlines across content streams, ensuring timely delivery of materials. Liaise with designers and other vendors to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. Technical Skills and Experience Desired 5+ years of relevant experience in writing, communications, marketing, or journalism. Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver complex projects with internal and external collaborators. Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills. Proficient in PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Canva (or similar platforms). Knowledge of conservation or environmental issues is a plus. Reports To Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Compensation and benefits The salary range is $85,000–$95,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience. Salary may vary for applicants residing outside the San Francisco Bay Area, based on location and cost of living considerations. In addition, benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance contributions, chiropractic/acupuncture, basic life insurance, AD&D, Health FSA and Dependent care (pre‑tax payroll dollars), a retirement plan where WCN matches 100% of employee’s contribution up to 6% of employee’s salary, 11 paid holidays with 1 paid floating holiday, 15 days of paid vacation in the first year (+1 day per year worked), paid sick leave, and an employee discount program.
