The Youth Advocate position at SQPA's Community Schoolsprogram is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about empowering young learners. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to fostering strong communication skills, boosting self-esteem, and promoting academic success for middle school students.

In this role, the Youth Advocate will provide mentoring and instructional support in ELA, Mathematics, and STEM subjects to middle school scholars throughout the academic year.

Prior experience mentoring youth
A commitment to fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive school environment
Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED
Provide 5-6 hours of daily classroom instruction in ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science to middle school students, while also partnering with chronically absent students to identify and address barriers to regular attendance as part of the Success Mentor program
Collaborate closely with teachers to develop individualized tutorial content
Assess student progress regularly and provide feedback to support academic growth
Foster authentic relationships with students and families through regular communication, including weekly phone calls and updates, while encouraging active participation in school events and meetings
Collaborate with the Community Schools Director to develop ongoing opportunities for student and family engagement and enhance communication
Lead Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons to support students personal and social development
Assist with daily school operations, including monitoring hallways and stairwells, supervising lunch periods, supporting various activities and events, and accompanying students on educational trips
Part-time in-person role that will be paid $25 per hour
