A leading manufacturer of innovative power distribution and energy solutions is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist to join its team in Houston, TX . This role is responsible for ensuring all safety and environmental programs, procedures, training, work practices, and controls are effectively implemented across the facility. The position plays a key role in identifying applicable EHS regulations and risks, partnering with Operations, Quality, Planning, Legal, and Engineering to ensure compliance and continuous improvement across all HSE programs. The role reports to the company's HSE Director.
Lead and implement EHS program objectives and provide ongoing direction to site teams.
Train and coach operations staff on safety practices, accident prevention, and reduction activities.
Serve as the site expert and primary point of contact for all safety and environmental inquiries.
Conduct compliance activities related to safety, health, waste management, water discharge, air quality, and permitting.
Monitor and interpret EHS regulations and risk initiatives; Identify and coordinate health and safety training for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Engage cross-functional teams to set and achieve measurable HSE goals that add organizational value.
Lead site emergency response and safety committee teams.
Partner with HR on orientation training and workers' compensation management.
Provide input on process safety and capital projects to ensure safety is prioritized in design and execution.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess compliance and identify risks.
Collaborate with operations and leadership to improve safety procedures and minimize risk exposure.
Support development of the site HSE budget and attend management meetings as needed.
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Electrical Safety, Confined Space, PPE, PIT, Hearing Conservation, and Respiratory Protection.
Support compliance with environmental programs such as:
Contribute to industrial hygiene program development for weld, sandblast, grinding, and powder coat operations.
Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, Environmental, or a related field.
Minimum of three years of progressive experience in a health and safety role, preferably within manufacturing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
Ability to travel up to 50% to support other sites.
Spanish language proficiency preferred.
Proven success teaching and implementing health and safety concepts.
Flexibility to work varied hours as needed to support operations and project timelines.
