This position will support a complex government environment and will require evaluation and implementation of cloud virtualization technologies that can serve as effective alternatives to VMware environments. Work Location: Hybrid – A mix of onsite and remote work. Clearance: Must be US citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance. Primary Roles and Responsibilities: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and manage cloud solutions that optimize performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Evaluate and recommend cloud-based virtualization technologies and open-source solutions. Design and implement cloud architectures that effectively replace existing VMware environments, ensuring compatibility with existing applications and workloads. Collaborate with IT teams to migrate and optimize workloads to the cloud, ensuring minimal disruption to services. Monitor and manage cloud-based virtual machines, containers, and orchestration tools to ensure optimal performance and availability. Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for provisioning, scaling, and managing cloud resources. Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting of cloud environments to resolve issues efficiently. Document processes, architectures, and configurations for knowledge sharing and compliance purposes. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to cloud virtualization. Required Education, Knowledge, and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles, with a strong focus on virtualization technologies. Proficiency in cloud platforms and experience with their virtualization services. Familiarity with alternatives to VMware or open-source virtualization technologies. Experience with containerization technologies and orchestration platforms. Strong scripting skills for automation tasks. Solid understanding of networking, security, and best practices in cloud architecture. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: Relevant cloud certifications. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
