Position Summary The VP, Head of Information Security & Infrastructure will safeguard Berkshire’s technology assets while ensuring the resilience, scalability, and efficiency of its Information Technology infrastructure. The role will develop a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and execute the supporting tasks to ensure a layered security approach to protect the computing environment at access points, data in transit, and end points. This role is also responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s core technology infrastructure, including network engineering and system administration. The VP is responsible for the management and development of the Service Desk team, which is the primary point of contact for IT-related concerns, and their successful research and resolution of technical problems. Responsibilities Implement a cost-effective information security program, including the corporate-wide strategy, to protect Berkshire against existing and evolving cyber threats and to respond quickly to incidents Manage the core technology infrastructure – function as a system administrator and a network engineer – to support the end-to-end IT infrastructure for corporate headquarters, satellite offices, and properties. This environment includes computers, networks and networking gear, servers, conference rooms, mobile devices, cloud-based phone systems, and cloud integrations. Manage and develop the technical skills and capabilities of the Service Desk team and information security & infrastructure personnel Align security and infrastructure strategies with business goals, enabling innovation while maintaining operational integrity and cost-effectiveness Maintain a strong internal control environment related to identity management, user access controls, least privilege, information security, and change management Define and lead Berkshire’s incident response and recovery program to ensure rapid recovery and minimal disruption Ensure compliance with regulatory standards Evaluate technologies and vendors in accordance with Berkshire’s Vendor Due Diligence and IT Governance processes Stay abreast of industry trends and identify opportunities to modernize infrastructure, automate processes, and improve cost-efficiency while supporting a secure, scalable, high-performing environment Manage technology budgets, vendors, and provide project management oversight for critical vendor-related infrastructure and information security projects Manage internal and external resources in alignment with Berkshire’s values Provide excellent customer service to Berkshire colleagues Assist the Chief Technology Officer in managing the technology function and performing tasks and projects as assigned; be capable of leading the technology function in the CTO’s absence Demonstrate tact and discretion in all interactions Knowledge/Experience Fifteen plus (15+) years of experience in IT Infrastructure and/or Information Security roles Proven management skills with a track record of building teams and mentoring talent Strong understanding of computer hardware, mobile devices, networks and technology Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities with critical thinking and problem solving Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to communicate with and manage up to senior management Collaborative working style with inclusive behaviors, commitment to excellence, and a strong work ethic Emotional intelligence in high-pressure and sensitive situations Tenacity and perseverance to work with business from start to finish Ability to represent Berkshire’s employment brand to candidates from diverse backgrounds Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and communications Develop productive working relationships with all team members including internal clients and external third parties Demonstrated high ethics and integrity in professional conduct Technical/Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical/quantitative field; technical certifications such as CISSP, CISM are a plus Proven experience securing networks and cloud platforms using zero-trust architecture (Microsoft technologies a plus – Azure, Fabric, Microsoft 365, Defender, SharePoint) Deep understanding of information security tools, technologies, and technical compliance frameworks Expertise in infrastructure architecture, networking, identity management and device management Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technology Proficiency with common computer hardware and software tools Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Berkshire Residential offers an excellent benefits package focused on total health and wellness.
