High Needs Special Education Teacher

Job Description Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1 years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This position involves teaching in a K-12 setting within special education, serving students in both self-contained and resource classrooms while consulting with school personnel to support student success. The role focuses on developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with school and system-wide curricular goals, as well as behavioral and academic interventions tailored to students with disabilities. Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in special education Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with required endorsements or subject-level appropriate training Appropriate special education endorsements Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and update IEPs using diagnostic and assessment data Monitor and manage student behavior through classroom discipline, de-escalation techniques, and teaching behavioral strategies Provide guidance and consultation to staff, school teams, and parents regarding behavior management and learning supports Assist students with personal care needs including eating and toileting when necessary Create an engaging, supportive classroom environment that matches student maturity and interests Review referral and assessment data to establish goals and objectives for each student Prepare students for inclusion in mainstream classrooms and for transitions Use appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet educational goals Regularly assess student progress and provide timely progress reports Supervise and evaluate teacher assistants to ensure effective support Maintain professional development, participate in school vision initiatives, and attend staff meetings Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration Location: White Hall, Arkansas Job Type: Contract, Non-School Year (NSY) Candidates with a passion for advocating on behalf of students with disabilities and supporting their educational and behavioral growth are encouraged to apply.
