Machinist I This position is responsible for setting up and operating manual machines, CNC machining centers, and other value-added equipment, loading and creating programs through data transfer and MDI programming. Works with leads, planners, and supervisors to achieve production goals. The machinist is responsible for interpreting complex blueprints and producing quality parts according to specifications and time restraints. Requires considerable autonomy with little to no supervision to perform duties of the job. Essential functions include: Assisting leads, programmers, and supervisors on setups and execution of projects. Setting up and operating machine tools as required to meet drawing specifications for tools and fixtures. This includes G-Code/MDI and/or the independent creation of CAD/CAM programs for CNC programming of machine tools. Utilizing experience and expertise in machining to assist programming team by developing labor assisting tools and fixtures. Incorporate lean practices to eliminate waste, create better flow, reduce bottlenecks, and achieve SMED. Identifies and removes inefficiencies from programs through awareness and process engagement. Assisting in the daily preventative maintenance programs for all machine tools under your control. Repair minor damage to machinery and tooling. Training machine operators in the proper setup and operation of machine tools. Performing other duties as assigned. Core competencies include: Detail orientation Multi-tasking Sense of urgency & work ethic Personal growth Adaptability & flexibility Dealing with ambiguity Qualifications: Education: High School or better.
