ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Primary Care - Family Practice Physician to provide temporary coverage in a rural practice located in southeastern Virginia. This role involves outpatient-only care across all age groups, with no hospital or call responsibilities. The position is needed to ensure continuity of care while the practice is without a full-time provider. Dates / Schedule Coverage Period: December 2025 Mid-January 2026 Schedule: 3 eight-hour shifts per week Call Requirements: None Credentialing Timeframe: days Job Details & Responsibilities Setting: Rural outpatient primary care practice Patient Volume: 20 patients per day Patient Population: Adult, pediatric, newborn, geriatric Support Staff: No other on-site physicians or mid-levels Virtual support from other internal medicine providers possible On-site behavioral health provider available Facility Info: 6 exam rooms Services on-site: Laboratory, POC testing, phlebotomy Emergency equipment: Defibrillator, airway support EMR: Epic Required Procedures: Adult & Pediatric: General outpatient care, newborn care (>2000g) Gynecology: Pelvic exams/Pap smears (helpful, not required) Minor Surgical: Suturing minor lacerations, incision & drainage Psychiatric: Uncomplicated adult cases (onsite BH support) Required Skills & Qualifications Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine Required Active Virginia Medical License at Time of Submission Required BLS Certification Required Experience with Epic EMR Preferred Comfortable working independently in a rural practice setting
