Instructional Aide - Success Academy
Rate of Pay: Pay Range is $17.35-23.35 per hour (based on experience). The job goal is to improve the quality of services provided to students and act as a student advocate by assisting the teacher in implementing all aspects of the educational program, to assist with students to meet goals. The instructional aide takes no independent actions, but has some decision-making authority limited and regulated by board policy and state law. This also applies to those instructional aides who may hold degrees or certificates.
Instructional aides assist teachers in presenting lessons that demonstrate an understanding and use of a variety of instructional strategies, questioning techniques, and resources that promote student learning and encourage students' development of basic skills, critical thinking, and problem solving. Assist students with academic tasks
Instructional aides use an understanding of individuals and group motivation and behavior to create an environment that encourages social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. The instructional aide assists the teacher in managing the classroom efficiently and effectively. The instructional aide fosters a positive, supportive classroom atmosphere and assists students in using time productively.
Help to maintain discipline and assist with individual student behavior management under the direction of the certified staff
Assist classroom teacher in maintaining classroom materials
Instructional aides understand the role of communication in education and develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues. The instructional aide is expected to maintain standards of professional conduct, grow professionally, and meet policy requirements.
Adhere to appropriate communication channels with pupils, parents, and community
Abide by all applicable laws and comply with all policies and procedures of Mascoutah CUSD #19
The instructional aide understands their role goes beyond instruction in the classroom setting. instructional aide is expected to assist with clerical duties and supervisory duties as needed.
Track and record student data
Assist teacher in completion of progress monitoring and data input
Prepare teaching materials
Grading as requested in collaboration with the certified teacher
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators, and the general public.
Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Successful experience working with children at risk.
Demonstrate the ability to complete assigned tasks/duties with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate knowledge of school policies and provide supervision of students as assigned by building administration.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The building administrator in cooperation with special education administrators are directly responsible for the administration of the evaluation system and will incorporate input from the assigned teacher(s).
