Specialist; Mental Health Counselor

Berklee's Counseling & Survivor Advocacy Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Counselor/Multicultural Specialist to join our diverse mental health team. Reporting to the Director of Counseling & Survivor Advocacy Services, you will provide comprehensive mental health services using a short-term treatment model. A key focus is on developing therapeutic relationships and programming that prioritize inclusion, empowerment, and strength-based interventions , particularly for historically underserved student populations. Some evening availability may be required.

Maintain an ongoing clinical caseload, providing short-term individual and group psychotherapy and psychological assessments.
Provide crisis intervention services as part of the emergency counselor rotation and as needed.
Develop and lead community mental health initiatives for underserved student populations, such as expressive arts offerings.
Serve as a liaison to student affinity groups and identity-based programs.
Staff daily drop-in hours specifically for students for whom counseling services have been historically stigmatized.
Conduct assessments and refer as appropriate to community providers for advanced or longer-term treatment.
Maintain all pertinent clinical documentation and participate in weekly supervision meetings.

We are looking for a licensed professional with a passion for college mental health and demonstrated experience working effectively within a highly diverse community.

Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
Current Massachusetts licensure (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent) or license-eligible within 6 months of hiring date.
Minimum of 2 years of experience providing counseling or closely related work, particularly community-based interventions.
Demonstrated experience in engaging with multicultural and diverse student populations.
Strong consultation and presentation/training skills.
Knowledge of student development and psychological theories/principles.
