Process Safety Management Specialist
Responsible for managing and improving Process Safety Management (PSM) programs within a manufacturing environment. This role supports regulatory compliance, leads risk assessments, coordinates hazard analyses, manages safety documentation, conducts incident investigations, and partners with cross-functional teams to reduce process risks and improve overall operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process, including risk reviews and documentation
- Coordinate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and track corrective actions to completion
- Maintain OSHA PSM and EPA RMP compliance requirements
- Support safety audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness activities
- Develop and maintain PSM procedures, training materials, and documentation
- Conduct process safety training and communicate safety improvements
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses
- Support Mechanical Integrity programs and equipment compliance efforts
- Perform Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new and modified equipment
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to identify and mitigate process hazards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, EHS, Safety Engineering, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in Process Safety Management within chemical manufacturing or a similar industrial environment
- Knowledge of OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations
- Experience with hazard assessments, audits, and safety improvement initiatives
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, process flow diagrams, and engineering documents
