This is a hands-on mechanical/field engineering role. You’ll work with and guide clients on high-security doors, physical alignment, hardware systems, locking mechanisms, and real-world installation challenges. Ideal applicants have experience with tools, mechanical troubleshooting, field installations, construction, low-voltage, or electro-mechanical systems. Fortified Estate supplies custom high-security residential armoring for premium homes across the U.S. We’re hiring a mechanically minded, calm-under-pressure problem solver who wants to master a unique product and become the go-to expert for contractors and installers. This role blends hands-on understanding, clear communication, and the satisfaction of remotely guiding teams to get installations right the first time. What You’ll Do Troubleshooting & Support (Core Focus) • Lead remote troubleshooting calls with installers. • Diagnose alignment, frame, lock, and electronic issues. • Guide teams step-by-step through repairs over video. • Track open issues and ensure timely resolution. Installation Planning • Contact contractors before installation to set expectations. • Answer technical questions and clarify site requirements. • Ensure a smooth installation process from day one. Documentation & Process Improvement • Create or improve installation instructions and diagrams. • Build an internal knowledge base of recurring issues and solutions. • Use basic CAD/SketchUp to produce or edit simple technical visuals. Internal Coordination • Order replacement parts as needed and track usage. • Surface recurring problems so engineering and production can improve over time. Who You Are • Strong mechanical intuition — you naturally understand how physical systems fit, move, and interact. • Experience with tools, physical installation, or hands-on troubleshooting. • Calm, patient, and a careful listener during troubleshooting calls. • Able to explain physical steps clearly and confidently over video. • Self-organized and disciplined with scheduling and documentation. • Curious, hands-on, and detail-oriented. • Able to work from our Plano office at least 3+ days per week. • Able to travel occasionally for job-site visits. Nice to Have • Experience with doors, windows, low-voltage systems, or similar trades. • CAD or SketchUp familiarity. • Installation or field-support background.
