Bon Secours is seeking a warm, skilled, and mission-driven Experienced Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to join our compassionate and collaborative team. At Bon Secours, you’ll join a supportive interdisciplinary team dedicated to whole-person care. Our current group includes 1 Palliative Care MD, 4 APCs, 4 RNs, and 1 LCSW, working closely together in a culture grounded in compassion, mentorship, and respect. Inpatient consult service at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA
Occasional need for outpatient clinic coverage at the Harbour View area in Suffolk, VA
Rare cross-coverage possible at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA
Adult/Geriatric population only
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
Four 10-hour shifts with a rotating day off
Conduct meaningful goals-of-care conversations, advance care planning, and end-of-life discussions
Provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and families
Coordinate care with referring teams, nursing, social work, chaplaincy, and other involved providers
Use robust tools including EPIC, MyChart, and DAX CoPilot/AI documentation support
3–5 years of hospice or palliative care experience (highly preferred)
~ A provider who demonstrates emotional intelligence, compassion, and a patient-first mindset
~ Someone who values teamwork, communication, and a mission-driven approach to care

Palliative Care
That’s why Bon Secours is honored to provide specialized palliative care for patients and families living with cancer to make certain they get the best care possible. Palliative care is provided by an team of board-certified physicians, palliative-care certified advanced practice nurses, clinical social workers and other specialists who work hand in hand with your cancer team. We work closely with both the patient and family on care decisions, including open discussions about treatment choices and advance care planning.

Both hospice and palliative care focus on quality of life. Palliative care is provided with medical treatments as an extra layer of support. Hospice is provided after disease-directed cancer therapy is no longer a part of treatment and cancer has become life-limiting.
