Cnc Programmer American Rheinmetall Next-generation Solutions For The U.s. The CNC Programmer plans CNC (Computer Numerical Control) program to control contour path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools by performing the following duties.
Creates instructions for machinists.
Reviews 2D & 3D CAD design blueprints.
Makes calculations for programming including where materials should be cut.
Translates instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program.
Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software.
Determines sequence of operations in a program.
Chooses cutting tools that will be needed.
Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs.
Provides training for employees on automated systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing):
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Searches out new tasks and expands their ability to perform assigned tasks without direct supervision.
Follow quality environmental policies and have knowledge of AS9100 and IS14001.
High school diploma or G.D. equivalent, and five years related experience and/or training; Proficiency with MasterCam CNC lathe and mill programming software required.
