Senior Underwriter - Team Lead, Property
The Senior Underwriter in Property plays a critical role in evaluating and underwriting complex property insurance risks. This position requires a deep understanding of risk assessment, pricing, and coverage terms to ensure profitability and adherence to underwriting guidelines. The Senior Underwriter collaborates closely with brokers and clients to develop customized insurance solutions, manage a diverse portfolio, and drive business growth. Contribute to special projects as assigned by senior management.
Lead in the future development of the existing underwriting staff and the hiring of future underwriters in the southwest region.
Contribute to regional planning by developing and executing an annual desk-level underwriting plan.
Mentor and motivate team underwriters, while working with underwriting assistants and other integral members of the team.
Support the training and onboarding of new hires to foster a knowledgeable team.
Analyze submission data including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports; conduct appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account.
Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to regional management, product management and chief underwriting officers.
Collaborate with internal colleagues in the assessment of current and prospective risks, including actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering.
Proactive service of business in conjunction with the Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements.
Cross-sell with other business units to maximize deployment of AXA XLs capital and broaden product offerings.
Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
Assist in portfolio management regarding limit deployment, attachment point aggregation, pricing adequacy and policy terms and conditions.
A bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Strong insured and broker interaction in the assigned geographic territory with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts to promote offered products.
The ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time is anticipated.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
