Manager, Software Engineering (Web Experience) Join DigitalOcean as an Engineering Manager focused on our frontend and brand experience. You will lead a dynamic team that builds worldclass publicfacing web experiences and collaborate closely with product, design, marketing, and business stakeholders. What Youll Do Lead and mentor a team of frontend and fullstack engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence. Oversee the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and engineering standards. Be handson and contribute to software architecture, design, and optimization of scalable fullstack solutions, including internal systems like CMS, tooling, deployment strategy, and operational excellence. Collaborate across the organization, consistently interfacing with product, design, UX, marketing, and other stakeholders. Develop and refine processes and tools to improve team performance, product quality, and engineering velocity using AI tooling where appropriate. Provide career coaching, performance assessment, and development pathways for team members. What Youll Add 6+ years of software development experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role. Strong handson experience with Javascript, Typescript, Go, React.js, Next.js, and Node.js. Experience with foundational backend and infrastructure technologies: PostgresSQL, Nginx, CI/CD, Kubernetes. Solid understanding of fullstack architecture, performance optimization, and scalability principles. Able to make effective engineeringproduct tradeoffs while balancing shortterm and longterm needs. Experience building crossdisciplinary collaboration between engineering, operations, support, and product groups. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to manage, coach, and mentor software engineers, and experience with staffing, interviewing, and retaining teams. Experience conveying complex ideas in written, verbal, and presentational formats to diverse stakeholders. Prior experience leveraging AI tooling to augment productivity and evangelize their use. Knowledge of networking and internet engineering best practices a plus. Compensation Range $142,400 - $178,000 This is a remote role.
