Overview
Arups West Coast mechanical team seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design and delivery of innovative HVAC, hydronic, and specialpurpose mechanical systems for commercial and mixeduse projects. The role focuses on sustainable design, decarbonization, and resilient systems in a multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
Lead mechanical engineering design and provide multidisciplinary design leadership.
Deliver complete airside systems, heating and cooling hydronic plant systems, specialty exhaust systems, and steam systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders, code officials, and project managers to produce integrated construction deliverables.
Mentor and supervise team members, providing timely feedback and recognition.
Maintain client relationships and support repeat business.
Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentations incorporating sustainable design methods.
Present technical material to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Participate in local professional associations.
Ensure quality standards, commercial metrics, and client relations for projects.
Qualifications
~ Bachelors degree in mechanical or architectural engineering.
~8+years of professional experience designing and building HVAC systems for medium to large commercial buildings.
~ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
~ Knowledge of codes and standards (CMC, IECC/ASHRAE90.1, LEED, NFPA).
~ Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
~ Commercial and financial awareness, with ability to prioritize work and maintain organization.
Preferred Skills
Professional Engineering License in the United States.
LEED Accreditation or WELL Certification.
Engineering analysis and energy modeling experience (wholebuilding energy, faade thermal, airflow).

A competitive salary range for this position in SanFrancisco is $129,100 to $146,700 per year, commensurate with experience and education.
