We are seeking a full-time Director of Finance/Controller to support our SF Bay Area and other locations. The position will be based in either the San Francisco Bay Area or in Denver and reports to the Executive Director. The Director of Finance/Controller is responsible for the company’s long-term financial health and growth. They establish strategies that will earn profits, oversee accounting operations, produce accurate reports, and improve or change current practices to increase efficiency.

Manage and drive finance department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements as needed.
Prepare monthly financial reports and explanation of distributions.
Complete month-end and year-end closing of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and complete G/L entries and analysis.
Assess, execute, and improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings and collections, payroll, and cash management.
Maintain chart of accounts.
Manage and administer pension and retirement plans.
Manage banking relationships.
Manage credit card reconciliation and issuance of cards to identified employees.
Work closely with CPA and provide all necessary information on a quarterly and annual basis for tax filings.

5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
~ Advanced MS Excel skills required.
~ Experience as a Director of Finance or Controller preferred.
~ BA/BS in accounting, finance, economics, or another business-related field.
~ Experienced in preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements.
~ Previous experience in law firms is highly valued.
