Orthotic Fitter

Could this be for you? Orthotic fitters provide patient care through the provision and adjustment of off the shelf and pre-fabricated orthoses. Specifically trained and qualified to participate in the evaluation, fitting, and delivery of prefabricated orthotic devices and/or soft goods related to a patient’s needs, as indicated by a certified orthotist. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred • Minimum 6 months experience in providing customer service in the following settings; sports rehab, fitness, healthcare, and medical office or retail. • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Make sure to read the full description below. Preferred Experience • Allied Health Professionals (PTA, OTA, Athletic Trainer, Medical Assistant, etc.) • Current certification as a Certified Fitter-orthotics, CFo (i.e., American Board Certified (ABC) or Board Eligible for certification Knowledge and Skill • Willingness to verify all clinical activities with certified clinical personnel • Ability to follow written and verbal directions • Hand skills necessary to use basic laboratory tools safely and effectively • Knowledge of biomechanical principles • Thorough understanding of medical terminology • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for reporting information to patient and staff • Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize and plan for the purpose of meeting deadlines • Ability to work effectively as a team member Principle Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Assist certified clinicians with patient care, elevating to independent patient care with certification Ensure all patient procedures are performed in alignment with the certifying clinician Perform shipping, receiving, and monitoring of inventory Ordering of orthotic parts and materials, and ensuring items are received in a timely manner to meet required deadlines Prepare a room and patient for treatment Perform selected patient care procedures including evaluation, fitting, delivery and adjustments of orthotic soft good items Instruct patients on proper use of orthotic devices and provide patient follow-up Complete and maintain accurate documentation of patient care provided Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment Adhere to all safety regulations, compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
