This story needs to be told. The Role: Were hiring a Head of Brand to shape how Northwood shows up to the world. You will own the story of Northwood - how its told, where its told, and how it evolves as we scale. This is a highly strategic and handson role with direct access to the founding team. Youll translate our technical breakthroughs into compelling narratives, build a recognizable and differentiated brand, influence how customers, partners, recruits, and the media perceive us, and help define the category were building. Youll operate fluidly across product, policy, partnerships, and recruiting. Responsibilities: Narrative Stewardship: Partner closely with the CEO to translate, evolve, and protect the companys narrative. Media Relations: Build and manage relationships with national security, tech, and space reporters. Shape stories with select media when strategically valuable and ignore noise when its not. Product & Technology Storytelling: Translate technical progress into strategic messaging. Work crossfunctionally to explain our engineering, software, and deployment milestones to nontechnical stakeholders. Platform Building: Develop our outbound content strategy. Maintain a high standard of clarity, originality, and signal. Strategic Announcements & Launches: Lead planning and execution for major announcements - product launches, partnerships, funding rounds, deployments, etc. Who You Are: A strategic communicator whos worked in or around highvelocity, founderled environments - ideally in hard tech, national security, aerospace, or AI. A worldclass writer who can handle varied content from technical briefs to press quotes to blog drafts. A narrative thinker who understands how positioning, timing, tone, and medium interact. A collaborative operator who works closely with founders and leadership to ensure aligned, effective communication while driving independent execution. A tasteful editor and brand steward who holds the bar high and keeps the message sharp. Qualifications: 10+ years in brand strategy, journalism, communications, editorial, or related roles Experience working directly with founders or Csuite executives Demonstrated ability to translate highly technical concepts into approachable storytelling Background in startups, aerospace, national security, or infrastructure preferred Exceptional writing portfolio showcasing range, clarity, and editorial judgment Additional Information: Compensation at Northwood Space is based on role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual base pay is determined on a casebycase basis and may vary depending on jobrelated skills, education, experience, and technical expertise. In addition to base salary, Northwood Space offers longterm incentives such as company stock options and discretionary performance bonuses. Benefits include equity, comprehensive health care, flexible vacation, retirement savings plans, and opportunities for professional development.
